Devitts brings back
Christmas on the farm and
Eggbert the talking egg
Chris Fitch and Joe Gizzarelli, owners of Devitts Nursery and Supply on Route 32 in New Windsor for the past 12 months are happy to announce the return of a long time favorite.Christmas on the farm, with Eggbert the talking egg was a great favorite in the past, drawing tens of thousands of adults and children each year from early 70's to the late 90's when a combination of events resulted in the event being discontinued. These favorites will return for this Christmas season.
In October of 2010, Joe and Chris became owners of the garden center and embarked on an ambitious program with goals of continuing to provide high quality products, advice and services to the community, and making homeowners aware that Devitts is there for them also. Expanding the role in the community included sponsoring a series of free seminars on a variety of topics, as well as events including free wine and cheese tasting sessions. They also intensified their efforts to serve contractors in the area.
In appreciation of that continued and new support, several months ago Joe and Chris decided to add to holiday happiness of the area by reinstating Christmas on the Farm featuring live animals and Eggbert the talking egg. To further enhance the enjoyment of the community, a new 'Castle' for Eggbert has been created in an existing building, and an entirely new area and facilities have been established in existing buildings for enjoying the animals on the 'Farm'. The whole team at Devitt's has been involved in the major activities leading to this event which was started by the late Jack Devitt so many years ago.
In addition to the Farm and Eggbert, souvenirs of the event, holiday decorating supplies such as lights and roping and fresh cut Christmas trees will be available for purchase as long as they last.
Starting Friday November 25, the farm trail will be open at all times the nursery is open.Eggbert will be greeting visitors starting on Friday November 25 from 10 am to 5 pm and on following Saturdays from 10 am to 5 pm, and Sundays from 11 am to 4 pm. Chris and Joe welcome 'children of all ages' to come to the farm and Eggbert.
